Cindy Prater was born and raised in San Angelo in West Texas but spent all her growing-up summers on her grandparents ranch in San Saba County, moving here permanently when it was time to raise her own family. Cindy and her husband, Ken Prater, have three children, the fifth generation of her family to call San Saba home.
Cindy’s career in real estate began with her experience as the abstractor for San Saba County Abstract Company under the tutelage of Reuben Senterfitt, a prominent Texas real estate attorney. Fifteen years of managing the title company allowed Cindy to become familiar with a wide range of real estate transactions together with their problems and solutions. This experience and an excellent working relationship already established with local lenders, surveyors, appraisers and others in the real estate business allowed an easy transition to the selling side. Meeting new people, exploring new properties and the challenge of making deals happen appeal to Cindy. So, in the spring of 2000, Cindy brushed the dust off her real estate broker’s license and joined San Saba Realy and has been hard at work assisting buyers and sellers ever since.
Cindy has served on various county boards and commissions, is a youth leader at the First United Methodist Church, and hosts yearly camps for children at her family’s ranch. Twice yearly she joins her archaeology friends for fieldwork in the Chihuahua Desert of Big Bend. Favorite outdoor activities include hiking, camping, exploring caves, riding ATVs, collecting bugs, photography and gardening.
